As a photographer, you learn quickly that weddings never go 100% to plan – and that’s where the magic often lies. One such unforgettable day was a wedding at The Billabong in Kuranda, where rain became the unexpected guest that made the day even more special.

What impressed me most was how calm everyone stayed – especially the couple. The rain didn’t ruin the day; it transformed it. The ceremony still took place over-looking the lake as planned and all the guests stood with excitement to watch Mahalia & Daniel's stunning day! Guests huddled together, creating an intimate, almost sacred space. The sound of rain on the leaves, the mist rising off the billabong – it all felt like something out of a movie.

The perfect day isn’t about the weather. It’s about the moments, the people, the connection. And honestly? Rain adds its own poetry. It softens the world. It slows things down. It makes people stay close.
