Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with some incredible venues, each with its own magic, from beachfront chapels to rainforest hideaways, there’s something for every couple’s dream wedding. "I’ve compiled some ideas in my blog post for couples who are struggling to decide on a venue and location for their wedding."

⚠️ Things to check / consider

  • Booking in advance: Because it’s popular & iconic, the venue fills up quickly. One site said: “By far the most popular wedding venue in Port Douglas … can book out years in advance.” Weddings

  • Guest logistics & accommodation: While the venue is in a desirable location, you’ll want to ensure guest travel, accommodation, and post-event plans are well coordinated — especially if many guests are from out-of-town.

  • Weather & outdoor space: If part of your plan uses the outdoor deck, make sure you have a wet-weather backup and plan for lighting, rain/ wind etc.

The Boat House

  1. Stunning location & views

  3. Destination wedding vibe

  4. Good guest capacity for moderate-sized weddings

⚠️ Things to check / consider

  • Access limitations: The FAQ mentions there is no lift access to the venue. If you have guests with mobility concerns, you’ll want to verify how accessible it is. The Boat House Venue

  • Curfew / finish time: Venue hire goes until midnight, with music off/final drinks at ~11:30pm per the FAQ. So if you hoped for a very late party, check how strict they are. The Boat House Venue

  • Weather & backup plan: While the location is beautiful, being in a tropical region can bring afternoon showers or sudden weather shifts. It’s wise to ask about wet-weather backup or indoor cover for the ceremony/reception.

  • Vendor restrictions / BYO: Check what catering/bar options you must use or whether BYO alcohol is allowed (some venues have limits).

  • Accommodation & travel for guests: Since it’s Port Douglas, you may need to coordinate nearby accommodation, transport, especially for out-of-town guests.

        NuNu Palm Cove

⚠️ Things to check / be mindful of

  • Finish times / noise restrictions: Beachfront settings can come with rules (e.g., noise curfews, music finishing by a certain time). Always confirm if dancing/music late is allowed.

  • Weather/back-up plan: Even though it’s a tropical paradise, outdoor and beachfront venues do face weather risks (rain, wind). Ask about indoor or covered alternatives in case of bad weather.

  • Logistics for guests: Since Palm Cove is somewhat of a destination, consider accommodation for guests, transport, and how easy it is for them to get there from airports, etc.

  • Styling vs generic decor: While the location gives a lot intrinsically (beauty, ambiance), you may still want to invest in decor/styling so the space reflects your vision rather than just “nice restaurant”.
